  • Dust Control: Keeping the area clean reduces the risk of dust getting into your repair.

 

Applying Primer

It’s essential to apply primer for the paint to adhere properly. I chose to use a fast-curing UV primer for its quality and convenience. It dries quickly, allowing me to sand it shortly after application, which speeds up the overall repair process while ensuring a strong bond for the paint.

Painting the Bumper

Next came the painting:

  • Colour Matching: I matched the colour using the car’s OEM (original equipment manufacturer) colour code. Mixing paint on site ensures the best possible match.
  • Application: A water-based base coat was applied using a spray gun. Curing with air and heat ensures a durable finish.
  • Dust Reduction: I used an anti-stat gun to minimise dust attraction before applying each coat.

I finished with two layers of clear coat to protect the paint from the elements.

Final Inspection

Once the paint was dry, I thoroughly inspected the bumper. The result? A seamless blend where the repair was done, making the bumper look as good as new! I also polished out any minor imperfections to ensure an excellent finish.
